An alleged intruder wearing a ski mask opened the door and didn’t take his eyes off the 9-year-old. He began chasing the boy upstairs. That’s when the boy’s pit bull came downstairs and started her attack.
In recent years, a frenzy of fear has been created about Pit Bulls. Many people were left wondering whether these creatures make good family dogs or not. The thing is that people started generalizing the breed based on some stories placed in the media. The fact that Pit Bulls were once considered nanny dogs, however, speaks a different story about these loving and overly friendly canines. They are also very loyal and thrive as part of the family.
For one family, having a Pit Bull turned to be life-saving. 9-year-old Shane Smith was home alone when a robber entered his place. The man was wearing a mask and intended to steal valuables and possibly kidnap the boy, but his intentions were cut short thanks to the family dog named Baby Girl.
The boy didn’t get upset when he heard someone was entering his home because he believed it was his mother who was trying to unlock the door. Seconds after, he realized it was an intruder. That’s when he got really scared.
Speaking to KOLN, Shane said, “It was in a blink of an eye and I was really scared. Because, it was only me home and I didn’t know who it was and the only protection I had was my dogs.”
“It seemed like he wanted me because when he saw me, he just slowly walked toward me and he didn’t look at anything else. He just kept his eyes on me,” he added.
That’s when he started calling Baby Girl’s name who came to his rescue. No one really knows what would have happened if it wasn’t for the dog. Thankfully, she managed to chase the robber out, but as he fought back, he pulled the blinds down on her before running away.
A neighbor who realized what had happened called Shane’s mom and told her about the incident. She got back home as quickly as she could. Luckily, her son wasn’t injured thanks to his brave and loyal dog.
If the person was there to abduct Shane as he claims, it means Baby Girl saved his life. She really is one very special dog.
