Any birth is a miracle no matter what species is giving birth. This tigers birth was so fascinating that it’s making headlines around the world.

Recently Kaitlyn the Sumatran tiger gave birth to two little male cubs. Unfortunately, things weren’t going great and the first cub struggled to breathe when it was born. Kaitlyn’s motherly instincts kicked in she knew exactly what to do to help her baby breath. The Australia Zoo caught the heartwarming birth on video.

The Sumatran tiger is one of the most critically endangered animals.

There are only 400-600 wild Sumatran tigers remaining. That is the reason why Conservationist programs were carefully monitoring Kaitlyn’s birth. Then they can help to ensure success.

“We can’t risk the Sumatran tiger going extinct like its cousins, the Bali and Javan tiger. As a first-time mother, it’s even more important for the zookeepers to watch the birth of Kaitlyn’s cubs closely. They need to be ready to jump in at a moment’s notice if something goes wrong.”

Kaitlyn was a natural! She began bathing the first cub as soon as he was born. The licking motion stimulates the cub’s lungs, this encouraged him to start breathing on his own.

She never gave up! The new mother never misses a beat she continues licking him until he takes a full breath. Take a peek at this incredible birth below see Kaitlyn as she literally saves her babies precious life.

It’s amazing to see such a rare and beautiful animal receive so much love and attention from people who care deeply about preserving the Sumatran tiger and other endangered animals so future generations may have a chance to see them too. Please SHARE!
