“Castaways” is a documentary series that shows us the successful rehabilitation program of inmates that train unwanted dogs for re-introduction or adoption. This series chronicles the difficulty faced by both prisoners and unwanted dogs and also displays the unlikely union between the two. The result of this bond is life-changing for both of them and heartwarming for us to watch.
The video below shows the journey of a dog named Esther who was severely abused in a puppy mill before being rehabilitated through the Prison-trained K-9 Companion Program. It was so moving to watch prison inmate Jason forming a beautiful bond with Esther and then eventually saying his goodbyes to send her off to a better place. This program should definitely be implemented in more prisons all across the world.
