Stranger’s Voice From Home Security Camera Calls Out To Woman’s Puppy

“Wake up,” the voice was heard coming from the video camera. “Hello! Hello! Come here, puppy,” it continued.

A woman from Dekalb County, Georgia, who did not want to be identified, says a stranger hacked into their Ring security camera, watched their dog, and started shouting things aloud. The woman was in bed when the incident occurred, and now she wants answers and to warn other pet parents.

“I was terrified. I literally could not move my body,” the woman shared.

The woman’s boyfriend installed the video camera inside so the couple could watch their new puppy while at work. After the frightening incident, the couple reported it to the Ring company.

Ring replied that the issue was not due to a security breach and “Due to the fact that customers often use the same username and password for their various accounts and subscriptions, bad actors often re-use credentials stolen or leaked from one service on other services. As a precaution, we highly and openly encourage all Ring users to enable two-factor authentication on their Ring account, add Shared Users (instead of sharing login credentials), use strong passwords, and regularly change their passwords.”

In reviewing their account, the couple noticed they were hacked four separate times. They plan to report the incident to the police.
