Four months ago, tragedy struck for one wolf when he was hit by a car in the Israeli countryside. Frantically hobbling around with a broken leg, the poor animal was almost beyond helping. Thankfully, he was spotted by some good samaritans who were determined to save his life.

After his rescuers finally got the lone wolf to a vet, things were starting to look better. But he wasn’t out of the woods just yet.

The wolf, whom they named Oliel, was understandably frightened after his accident.

His leg had been fractured, which made it impossible for him to walk.

The rescue team performed emergency surgery to repair the injury.

Even after the surgery, it was going to be a long road to recovery.

But Oliel is one brave wolf!

Finally, after 4 months, he was strong enough to be returned to the wild.

His cage was loaded onto the back of a truck for transportation.

He might have been a little nervous.

Hang in there, Oliel.

At long last, he arrived in his natural habitat for release.

It was almost time for him to go home.

Then they opened the cage…

He was a little wary at first.

But soon realized he was free!

And he was off!

He’s now right where he belongs.
