9 years ago, Jessica Cochran of the Community Animal Project stumbled onto Edith the dog who was chained up to a barrel in a dirt patch. At first, Edith was afraid of humans and barked when Jessica got near her. But then Jessica started visiting her regularly and Edith started to get attached to her. Jessica worked with PETA to give Edith a doghouse, treats, fresh food, water, and toys. Edith used to lay on her back so that Jessica could give her a belly rub.

But in 2012, Edith was removed and Jessica had no idea where her owners had taken her. Fortunately, PETA located Edith and decided to let Jessica adopt her. They reunited the two friends and Edith easily remembered Jessica. Finally, Jessica was able to give Edith a loving home.
