In June 2016, customers in East Anchorage Lowe’s, AK, were in for a shock. Shoppers around the parking lot could only look on in amazement when a mama moose wandered into the mall’s premises and gave birth to her calf right there. The calf took his time to get up to his feet, while his mom waited patiently. Lowe’s employees enclosed the area to protect them. They also blocked a section of the store-front driving area.
The whole thing lasted nearly nine hours. The Alaska Department of Fish and Game was called in. Some staff members stood on standby for security. The mama moose and her calf eventually started to move out of the parking lot, resting occasionally.
