It’s usually never a good idea to turn your back on a wild big cat, especially a cheetah. But as Dolph Volker shows in this fun video, there are exceptions to every rule.
Dolph is a volunteer at the Cheetah Experience in South Africa, a non-profit is devoted to saving the endangered cat and helping people better understand the fastest animal alive. He regularly shares videos on his YouTube channel to show off the cat’s softer side.
“Many people see Cheetahs hunting, running, killing, resting, or raising their young in documentaries, TV, or zoos. I wanted to show people the up-close and personal side of Cheetahs,” he writes. “I was pleasantly surprised how wonderful their personalities can be. Cheetahs are not considered a ‘social’ cat but they love, display affection, love attention (the tamed ones) and very interactive.”
In this humorous video he shows what happens when you close your eyes to sleep or turn your back on a cheetah in their habitat enclosure – and it’s totally not what I expected!
