If you battle with anxiety then you will know how difficult it can be. Going about your general day can be hard when things trigger your anxiety, leaving you upset and panicky. So having someone nearby who knows how to calm you down can make the world of difference.

Joule the sweet vizsla knows this better than anyone. Joule hates being left to her own devices.

Joule was adopted four years ago by Brenna Eckert. When she came into their home, she was an anxious dog.

“Joule had a lot of anxiety when we first adopted her. We worked one-on-one with a dog behaviorist to help work through some of her issues.”

Eckert refers to Joule as a ‘velcro dog’. Whenever they are home, she needs to be close to them.

But Joule isn’t the only animal that the Eckert family have adopted. Not long after they brought Joule into their family, they also adopted an orange tabby kitten named Kelvin. From the moment the furry pair met, they got along swimmingly.

“The animal shelters had given each of them a temporary name before we adopted them. Kelvin’s shelter name was Socks and Joule’s shelter name was Sandals. How ironic that Socks and Sandals make such a great pair!”

Although Eckert never predicted just how close the pair would become. She discovered their deep bond one day when she decided to set up a security camera around the house. She wanted to be able to keep an eye on things while she was at work.

When she watched back the footage, she couldn’t believe her eyes. Joule was displaying symptoms of separation anxiety and Kelvin the cat came up and gently comforted her. But it wasn’t just for a moment. Kelvin comforted Joule for the entire time that Eckert was at work.

Adorable video of cat comforting anxious dog goes viral

We noticed that Kelvin and Joule were laying on the couch together almost every day. I moved the camera to get a closer view of the couch and was amazed to see that they weren’t just sharing the couch, but they were snuggling up against each other.

Eckert uploaded a video of the cuddly pair onto Reddit, and understandably, people went crazy for it. She said, “This happens literally every weekday for the full 8 hours we’re gone.”

One Reddit user commented, “This video is 8 hours too short.” I wholeheartedly agree; I could watch videos of the pair snuggling all day.

It’s not just Joule who benefits from their cuddle arrangement. Kelvin does too. He can get lonely when Eckert is away and Joule keeps him company.

Kelvin’s personality is very mellow and sweet. He loves sleeping and being warm, both of which he gets by snuggling up to Joule during the day.

Eckert is glad that she knows somebody is watching over her anxious dog while she is away. It can be hard to leave a pet at home when you have to work, but knowing that Joule has a companion while she is away makes everything better.

Although Joule has a funny way of showing her appreciation for Kelvin. Every time Eckert returns home, Joule ignores the cat and just wants to be with her human companions. They only snuggle when nobody else is around.
