Max is a senior mixed breed dog who finally got his chance at a forever home. He was rescued from a South Philadelphia animal shelter, and it seemed like Max found a happy ending. Sadly, the woman who adopted him did the unthinkable.
A good Samaritan found Max abandoned and tied to a railing in the heart of the city. He was all alone and left there to fend for himself. The person who found the sweet pup took to Facebook, posted photos of the dog, and asked if anyone could take him for the night until the shelter opened the following morning.

A volunteer with the Philadelphia Animal Care and Control team saw the message and volunteered to help. The 11-year-old Pit Bull/Terrier mix looked familiar to her. It turns out someone from the Kensington area adopted Max just two days earlier and now decided she no longer wanted him. Rather than bringing him back to the shelter, she simply tied him to a rail all alone.
Good samaritan Monica Da Costa says, “No animal deserves to be abandoned like that.”

Da Costa worries if she takes Max to a shelter, due to his age he may be euthanized.
