When Gemma, a beautiful white German shepherd was brought in from a shelter, she was in a very devastating condition. She was suffering from demodectic mange and it had affected almost 70 percent of her body. While mange was completely treatable by medication, her owners didn’t want to take care of her any longer and dropped her off at a shelter. Fortunately, Jolene from St. Bonnie’s Sanctuary in California decided to become her guardian angel.
According to Jolene, months after the rescue, Gemma started to gain weight and her health was in a lot better condition. However, Jolene also noticed something unusual about her weight gain. Gemma was gaining weight particularly on one specific area, her belly. Apparently, Gemma was pregnant and she gave birth to 5 healthy babies. The pups were easily adopted but it took few more weeks for Gemma to be adopted. When Gemma finally had all her fur replaced and was out of her medication, an amazing family adopted her and gave her the forever home that she deserved.
