One local said the stray dog could have saved the tot’s life.

They said: “It’s possibly the warmth from puppies and their mother itself who had kept this newborn alive.

“Usually, the temperature dips at night and it’s already December. I must say, it’s her sheer luck.”

Incredible pictures show the newborn nestled alongside the puppies in the straw.

The baby was discovered uninjured after she was heard crying.

Locals alerted the panchayat, a local government body, who contacted the police.

She was taken to the hospital and examined by doctors.

The little girl, who has been named Akanksha, has been referred to the ChildLine Project.

An investigation is underway, and police are searching for her parents.

Senior IPS officer of Chhattisgarh Police, Special DG RK Vij, expressed his shock at the incident.

Local representative Munnalal Patel said they had found the newborn after heading out for daily chores.

They said: “At 11 in the morning, we saw that there is a newborn baby girl who was crying and lying alongside puppies in our village.

“We panicked and informed the health department before the newborn was taken to the hospital for further checkup.”

Of why the dog could have cared for the baby, animal trainer Shelby Semel told Romper that dogs “bond tightly with their human pack.”

This could mean some dogs would “regard a baby as the latest addition to its own personal animal den.”

“Dogs are keenly aware of the hierarchy within their pack and are instinctively wired to watch over the weaker members.

“So they correctly identify the drooling, flailing creature that’s been brought into the home as not exactly being the alpha, and in need of their protection.”

Ellie was abandoned with his herd when he was rescued and taken to Thula Thula Rhino Orphanage in South Africa. When the veterinary checked him, they found out that he was sick and never liked milk at all. This created doubt in the rescuers if he would ever make it.

When he met with Duma, things started to change positively. The two became great friends who would not be separated from each other.

Karen Trendler, rehabilitation and crisis response professional, said that the amazing thing was that the baby elephant had been sick and emaciated. This made him to be demoralized in doing anything as he seemed tired all through. When they organized a meeting of Duma and Ellie at the sand pile, the baby elephant was motivated instantly and he started to show signs of improvement.

Bringing in a new member has its fair of challenges. The foster parents worry if the adopted child will adjust and get comfortable in their new home. For parents whose children decide to adopt, they face some grandmother-related challenges.

Sandi wanted something permanent in her life. Sandy chooses to adopt Reagan. Reagan is a cute Australian Labradoodle. Reagan was only 11 months. During the same period, Kari fostered Buddy, an 11-month baby boy.

Kari has taken care of the duo. The duo will turn three on 3rd February 2017.

The two have become the best of friends and inseparable. They spend their time together and even wear matching outfits. Reagan and Buddy snuggle too. Lucky for Kari, she did not have to worry about her foster child adapting to the new environment.

The two dress up together, read together, and spend a lot of time snuggling.

One photographer captured something magical and unexpected. Anne Young was visiting the Sacred Monkey Forest sanctuary in Indonesia to capture some photos of wild monkeys. She accepted to capture monkeys in their typical behavior, but she was in for a surprise.

One monkey was holding onto something. Upon taking a closer look, she realized it was a ginger cat. Anna watched the pair for a moment and the monkey appeared unhappy being watched.

The monkey kept turning the cat away from the camera and even covered it with a leaf to hide its face. When the cat tried to walk away from all the attention, the monkey would pull it back and groom it. The other members of the monkey pride did not seem to notice the cat’s presence.

It’s unknown why this monkey adopted the feline, or if the kitten was abandoned by its mother. No matter what the reason was, it’s undeniable that their extraordinary relationship is incredibly sweet.

Some would say that humans don’t even deserve pets. We’ve all heard horror stories about animals and bad owners, but we never believe that we’ll actually get to witness it for ourselves. What would you do if you found an abused animal? Well, many people would do anything in their power to save the poor pet. A couple found themselves living next door to someone who was torturing their adorable Golden retriever for years until they finally decided to step in.

The dog was kept outdoors for its entire life, and for the majority of that time, it was also chained with limited range of motion. Naturally, this treatment made the animal depressed, meaning that he often cried and barked out of frustration. But since this crying frustrated the neglectful owners, they decided to cruelly muzzle his mouth using duct tape. Of course, this is painful for the animal and also makes it difficult to breathe. But once the neighbours, who actually owned the same breed of dog that they treated like a child, witnessed what was happening to the poor dog next door, they knew they needed to step in. Despite many calls to the police, nothing changed in the life of the poor Golden retriever.

Feeling alone and depressed, the Golden retriever remained in the backyard full of concrete. The dog even seemed to give up hope for a better life, lying there day after day with no energy or optimism. Finally, after many years of watching the neglected and abused dog’s torture, the neighbours had enough. They decided to take the justice system into their own hands and broke into the backyard to free him. The dog was promptly unchained and taken back into their home. They lovingly named the dog Alfie.

Alfie was found so broken and beaten down that it was obvious he had also suffered some physical abuse. He was untrustworthy of all humans, and barked relentlessly and often snapped and lunged at the rescuers. Naturally, this sensitive and hostile nature is normal for how the dog was raised – with abuse and cruelty. Thankfully, the new owners worked with him each and every day in order to rehabilitate him and change his behavior. They tried their best each and every day to remind the dog that he was now in a safe place and would never be hurt again. And by some sort of miracle, Alfie finally turned into the playful and joyful puppy that he was always meant to be.

With the help of his new caring owners, Alfie learned that there was life outside of his old backyard. He got to travel with his owners, joining them for adventures and vacations. And when it was time to go into his new backyard, he finally got to know life without chains. His days are now full of toys, belly rubs, celebrations, and affection. Alfie will never be treated with cruelty ever again, thanks to the love and care of his new owners. It’s a miracle that they were able to save this dog.
