Woman Tries Pulling Toxic Mushroom From Dog’s Mouth But It’s Too Late

A woman from Florida is warning other pet parents to be aware of toxic mushrooms. She is grieving the loss of her beloved Boston Terrier, Dino, after he innocently consumed one before she could remove it from his mouth.

On her Facebook page, Alexandra Barry shared, “Dino came across a fairy ring mushroom and ate it so quickly I didn’t have a chance to grab it. The next day he was violently vomiting, had massive diarrhea and couldn’t even hold a teaspoon of water.”

Things progressed and Dino was unable to stand, began grunting, and having tremors. Despite being hospitalized, Dino developed pneumonia. With all of the drugs he received, nothing ever stopped Dino’s seizures.

After removing the dog from life support, he passed away on his own within moments. Barry wants everyone to be aware of toxic mushrooms so other dogs will not suffer the same fate.

“If you ever have your pet eat even a small piece of a fairy ring mushroom, get it out ASAP,” Barry shared on Facebook. “If you see them get rid of them anywhere where you walk your dog, pick them up. Destroy and educate your neighbors about them.”

We extend our deepest condolences on your loss, Alexandra.
