Sheriff Personally Escorts Man To Jail After He Starved His Dog Nearly To Death

Sheriff Wayne Ivey and Corporal Chris Sauro, of the of the Brevard County Police Department’s Animal Cruelty Investigative Unit, personally escorted Ronald Peacock into jail after he was arrested on charges of Animal Cruelty and Resisting Arrest.

When officers responded to Peacock’s home in Cocoa, Florida, they found his dog, Thor, severely emaciated. Peacock was then issued a citation and ordered to take his dog to the veterinarian within two days.

While he did take Thor to the vet, he only received vaccinations and heart-worm treatment. Peacock told officers that he couldn’t afford medicine to treat the dog or afford food to bring the dog’s weight up, and said he wouldn’t do anything further.

Thor was then seized from the property and brought to Animal Services, where a vet on staff examined him and said he was suffering from malnutrition due to Peacock neglecting him for a while.

Peacock is currently at Brevard County Jail, where he’s being held on $2,500 bond.

“For the life of me, I just don’t understand how someone could be so cruel as to allow an innocent creature to suffer, especially when there are so many different organizations out there that would help feed and nurse this little guy back to health!!” Sheriff Ivey wrote on Facebook.”Well, at least he is now safe and sound in our Animal Care Center under the care of our incredible Veterinarians and staff!!”

“I hate to sound like a broken record but once again let me be very clear,” he continued. “If you harm an animal in Brevard County I am personally going to walk your butt into our jail and slam the door shut in your face!!”
