The Jacksonville Humane Society is reaching out to people to help one of their overlooked shelter dogs find a home before Christmas. They have shared pictures of the adorable mixed-breed dog named Joey on their social media in hopes that the right family would fall in love with him soon.
As we see in the picture, the handsome 7-year-old Joey has a pronounced underbite that makes his smile stand out. Dogs like Joey are often ignored by potential adopters who prefer cute young puppies or “pretty” dogs. It is sad that dogs with special physical quirks end up getting tagged as “unwanted” or “unadoptable”.
The shelter staff is worried about Joey’s adoption prospects as he has spent 7 years being lonely in the shelter without a home to call his own. He is a happy-go-lucky boy who lights up any room he’s in. He is friendly and outgoing and will be a perfect addition to any family. The workers even think he has the potential to be a “big internet sensation”!
We think Joey has spent enough Christmases alone and it’s high time he finds his forever home. Let’s get the word out for Joey and help him find the right family that will embrace him for who he is!
