Back in 2017, three men broke into Birmingham Dogs Home in the United Kingdom. One of the men, 32-year-old Martin Carter, stole an American Bully Dog and planned to have the dog’s ears and microchip surgically removed so the dog could not be traced to him.
Sadly, the microchip was removed and replaced with another and the dog had his ears cropped, causing great pain and disfigurement.
Thankfully, after almost two years, Carter was apprehended and jailed for six months. Carter admitted handling stolen goods and “causing a prohibited procedure to be performed on an animal.”
The West Mercia Police admits they are committed to preventing such cruelty and unnecessary suffering to animals and will prosecute those involved in the barbaric acts.
Gill Casey of the Crown Prosecution Service stated, “There is no justification for Carter putting Marley through painful and illegal procedures.”
The dog involved in this case, Marley, has since been rehomed, and Carter can never harm him again.
