A Chicago-area girl witnessed a horrifying act of cruelty to animals and rushed to try and save the dog’s life. The eyewitness saw a moving vehicle throw a small white dog from its window and take off. Thankfully, the girl raced to pick the badly injured dog up, took him home, and her mom called 311 for urgent assistance.

Animal Control and Care picked the dog up and drove him to MedVet for evaluation and emergency treatment. Veterinarians discovered the little dog, whom they initially named “Bob,” had a broken pelvis, fractured hip, and various cuts about his body. After surgery for repair of his injuries, the dog is slowly recovering and has been renamed “Elf.”
A reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the parties responsible for throwing the dog away like trash. Elf was thrown from either a Nissan Couple or Chevy Impala vehicle.

A microchip scan was successful and the dog’s owners were located. When told the cost of Elf’s surgery and treatment, they relinquished ownership to Animal Care and Control, who transferred him to their partners, Small Paws Rescue, Inc.
