Bonita, a five-year-old Pit Bull mix, had spent 500 long days at the Niagara SPCA in New York. She was the shelter’s longest resident, and staff worried that she would never find a home.
But they no longer have to worry, as Bonita has found a loving home just in time for Christmas!

“After almost 500 DAYS of being at our shelter, our longest resident, Bonita, has found her forever home!!! We truly can’t contain our excitement and happiness for this precious girl.”
“Thank you to these amazing people who came in and asked which dog had been here the longest and then gave Bonita the best Christmas present she will ever have…a home!!!” Niagara SPCA wrote on Facebook.

Staff lined up outside to bid farewell to Bonita as she took her freedom walk with her new dad.
Her dad, Ray Kinz, walked into the shelter and asked for the dog who is the oldest and has been there the longest. They showed him Bonita and he knew right away that he wanted to adopt her.

He wanted to give her a chance since a lot of older shelter animals are overlooked.
King recently lost his dog and was feeling empty. Bonita has filled that void, and the two of them are enjoying each other’s company, just in time for the holidays!
