This a story about a hero, a mama cat by the name of Scarlett. What Scarlett did to save her kittens from a fire is the kind of stuff that one usually finds in action movies.
We go back, all the way to May of 1996. Scarlett and her five kittens were in an abandoned garage, allegedly being used as a crack house in Brooklyn. The fire started in the garage, with the reason of its origin still unknown.

As we can see from the photo, Scarlett was badly burned during her brave rescue attempts. Her eyes were blistered and stayed shut, he coat singed, and hear paws and ears were burned too.
After rescuing all five, some bystander noticed that Scarlett touched each kitten with her nose, to make sure if they were alive. Scarlett could barely see her kittens, her eyes were so horribly blistered. She soon collapsed, unconscious.

Thankfully, Scarlett and her family were quickly taken to the veterinary clinic. They received their treatment there.

Sadly, the weakest of the kittens was unable to make it through, and died soon. The rest, however, survived. All thanks to their brave mama!
They were all adopted soon, and lived a happy life. And on October 15, 2008, the world lost a true hero. Scarlett passed away.
