A Goodbye Letter To My Owner

It is said that allowing someone close to your heart is the bravest thing you can do. Letting someone inside your heart, that special place just for your closest family comes with a price when that special someone leaves…

The heart doesn’t just feel broken, it feels completely devastating, like it may never heal. People that don’t have pets don’t really understand what a pet can mean to his or her human. Pets aren’t just companions. They are family! But even though they have to leave us, causing our hearts to break, most of us wouldn’t trade what we had together for anything in the world. The memories are irreplaceable. The memories are precious. The memories are what we are left with, etched into our hearts forever.

If you have lost a pet and feel broken, you are not alone. Many of us understand because we have been there too. No one can tell you how to grieve. NO ONE can dictate how long it should take for you to stop crying, to stop mourning your pet’s death. How one grieves is not indicative of how another grieves. Don’t get wrapped up in that, or what others may tell you.

This “letter” is proof that we do understand. Your pet loves you so much and while grieving can take as long as you need, your special furbaby would want you to be happy. Don’t feel guilty of being happy. Don’t feel guilty moving on or even getting a new pet. They would want you to do the best you could by living as full of a life as you can. They’re etched into your heart forever. They’re never really gone…
