When 59-year-old Andrew Taylor was pruning trees around his home in Kaiapoi, New Zealand, he ended up with a lot of dead branches that were of no use to him. But one look at his dog, Bella, inspired him to recycle those branches and build a “stick reservoir” for the dogs in his neighborhood!

Andrew spent the next few days putting his craftsmanship skills to work. He chopped and smoothened out the dead branches, then modeled a nifty box to store the sticks. He beautifully carved “Stick Library” on the box’s cover and carried it all the way to the dog park.
Dog owners were thrilled to see Andrew’s wonderful idea come into fruition so effectively. The park was filled with happy dogs all around, with each of them having picked their favorite stick to play with. Owners were amazed at how such a simple idea brought so much joy to their furry companions!

Today, more than 50 families regularly visit the park with their dogs to enjoy a good game of fetch. After they are done, they return the borrowed stick back in the box for safe-keeping. Andrew’s thoughtful gesture was later shared by his daughter, Tayla, on social media and it was deeply appreciated by animal lovers all over. Way to go Andrew!
