Crafty Man Builds ‘Stick Library’ For All Pups To Enjoy At New Dog Park

Tayla Reece’s dog, Bella, absolutely loves balls and toys, but she always rips them to shreds. Since she destroyed every toy she got her little paws on, she decided to move on to less destructible things, such as sticks.

But we all know that a good playing stick is hard to come by, especially at dog parks.

That’s when Reece’s dad, Andrew Taylor, came up with the idea of creating a “stick library” for the dogs.

Andrew, who resides in Kaiapoi, New Zealand, was trimming trees and knew it would be the perfect way to put the branches he cut off to good use. He sanded all of the branches so they were smooth and put them all in a box, which he engraved the words ‘stick library’ into.

He chose to call it stick library because he hopes dogs and their owners will return the stick once they’re finished with it so that other dogs at the park can use them too.

Andrew dropped the box off at their local dog park so that dogs have access to borrow a stick whenever they’d like to run around with one or play a game of fetch.

Reece posted photos and videos of the stick library on Facebook, which quickly went viral and warmed the hearts of people from all over the world.

On December 11, Reece invited people in the neighborhood to meet up at the park to see how their dogs liked the new stick library.

It turned out to be a very successful day with 50 people showing up and all of their dogs running back and forth to the stick library to pick out a stick to play with.

Our dog Bella loves a good stick, but there were no good sticks at our new dog park in Kaiapoi. So my wholesome dad made a stick library so all the doggos can enjoy a good stick ????????????
