Families Dumping Dogs As They Don’t Want To Spend On Dog-Sitting While Holidaying

Many shelters have expressed concerns over the enormous rise in the number of dogs being dumped over the holidays. There is a distinct trend among vacationing families to get rid of their dogs before going out on holidays. They consider these dogs to be an inconvenience they would rather not have.

The core reason behind this disturbing trend is that the holidaying families are unwilling to pay for their dog’s boarding fees at a motel. They say it’s much cheaper to “buy a brand new puppy” when they return. Some calculative people dump their dogs at any local shelter, and shamelessly demand the shelter to let them “readopt” the same dog whenever they’re back.

This ugly practice is slowly becoming a worldwide phenomenon. Recently, Australian Animal Protection Society (AAPS) voiced their concern on the shallow mentality of such owners. As per AAPS, many vacationing owners are straight-up dumping their dogs on isolated locations instead of surrendering them to a shelter.

A true animal lover knows that raising a dog is a lifetime commitment. People who treat their dogs like fancy toys don’t deserve to raise them. We strongly condemn this manipulative trend among owners. Let’s raise our voices and make it known that this disgraceful practice needs to end.
