Dog Trainer Arrested After Abusing & Starving Countless Pups In His Care

The owner of an animal boarding and training facility in Bull Valley, Illinois, is now facing a misdemeanor charge or animal cruelty after officials found and removed seven dog and two cats from his property, all of whom he neglected.

37-year-old Ryan M. Thomas, who owns Practical K-9, was trusted to train and care for these animals, but failed to do so. After their stay with Thomas, the dogs were starving and extremely malnourished, with all of their ribs showing.

Following Thomas’ arrest, many pet owners came forward to share their horrifying experiences with Thomas.

Rachael Fischer left her Doberman with Thomas, and when she picked her up, you could see her ribs and hip bones. After taking her to the vet, they learned that are kidney levels were not right.

Regina Pishchanskaya left her German Shepherd, Abigail, with Thomas. When she got her back, she was emaciated with all of her ribs showing as well. Weeks later, Abigail is finally starting to warm up to her home again, since her time with Thomas has left her nervous and hesitant.

Another woman wrote that her German Shepherd puppy died of kidney failure just two weeks after training with Thomas, while another pup was left covered in sores and hot spots.

Thomas has since deleted his new Facebook page, but his old one states that Practical K-9 “offers a positive, real world approach to dog training. Real people, real dogs, real results!” But unfortunately, the experiences were anything but positive, and the results were absolutely horrific.

According to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, Thomas was arrested and charged with Animal Cruelty, a Class A Misdemeanor. McHenry County Animal Control is still investigating the incident.
