It’s not uncommon for cats to climb trees, and it’s also not unusual that firefighters have to rescue said cats from trees.
But it’s not every day you hear that a dog has chased a cat all the way up a tree and has successfully made it to the top.
One German Shepherd did just that, but learned the hard way that climbing down the tree wouldn’t be as easy as climbing up it was.

The daring doggy froze at the top of the skinny limbed tree as he looked down and realized the pickle he has just gotten himself into.
At one point he even inched his way toward the kitty, but it’s safe to say that both of them were stuck and weren’t getting down without the help of firefighters.

Firemen from Lathrop Manteca Fire District quickly arrived at the scene and extended their ladders up the tree so they could climb up and bring both the dog and cat to safety.
Thankfully, the dog is doing well and has been reunited with his owner. The fire department posted the photos of the rescue on their Facebook page, which quickly went viral.

Hundreds of people left comments asking how the cat was.
“We have received word that both cat and dog are doing well! While we don’t typically update or respond to comments, after seeing so much interest for the cats well-being we felt we had a responsibility to share the news,” they wrote.
Thankfully both animals are ok, and we can only hope that the dog will think twice before chasing cats up the next tree.
