Sadly, Pit Bulls get a bad rap, and many people think they are a scary, vicious breed, especially since they are associated with organized dog fighting.
In reality, this is just a stereotype, and most Pit Bulls are actually very sweet and friendly.
Simba, a Pit Bull who resides in Sweden with his owner Arjanit Mehan, often faces these misconceptions. Many of the people who live in his apartment complex are afraid to interact with him, especially their elderly neighbor who lived alone. She was petrified of Simba and called him mean because “he is a bad breed.”

But Simba proved her wrong in November 2019 when he wound up saving her life.
Mehana and Simba came home from a walk, when all of a sudden Simba began to bark and ran to his neighbor’s door. Mehana had no idea was Simba was acting so strangely and tugged on his leash to try and guide him toward their own apartment, but he refused.

Just as Mehana was about to carry Simba home, he leaned towards his neighbor’s door and heard a voice call out, “Please don’t go.”
Mehana quickly opened the door, which was luckily unlocked, and saw his elderly neighbor lying on the floor, unable to move. It turns out that she had fallen and broken her hip, and had been calling out to her neighbors for two days.

Thankfully, Simba was the one to hear her cry for help and Mehana quickly called an ambulance. The two of them stayed by her side until help arrived.
The woman suddenly realized that Simba wasn’t so scary after all, thanked him for hearing her and even referred to him as a “nice doggie.”

Not only did the elderly woman now see Simba in a different light, but the rest of the apartment complex did as well.
Mehana hopes this story will help others see that the bully breed is not what people think. They are smart, confident, sweet and good-natured companions, just like any other dog.
