Cop Opens Fire On Barking Dog & Misses, Shrapnel Hits 2 Bystanders

A Sacramento police officer opened fire at a barking dog that missed the animals but injured two other people. The two injured people are the dog’s owner and a security guard, and they both say they were hit from shrapnel from the bullet meant to hit the barking dog.

The cop believed the dog to be aggressive, but witnesses dispute that assessment. According to one source, the dog was simply barking and the cop pulled out his weapon and fired.

The dog was also injured even though the bullet missed. The injured pup ran into a store where shoppers tried to console the dog and see what was wrong. They noticed the animal left a trail of bloody pawprints.

One woman in the store, Jandy Jorgensen, shared the mid-sized mixed-breed dog behaved nervously but not aggressive.

“We were just shopping, and then we saw a dog come running up to us,” said Jorgensen, who helped the dog. “She was bleeding. There was quite a lot of blood. She was shaking like a leaf, and she ran up to us and went between our legs. We didn’t know where she came from. We didn’t hear any commotion or anything.”

Animal control arrived on the scene and no further details are available at this time.
