Abused Dog Was Healed By Disabled Woman, So He Chose To Die With Her During Fire

A fire in a Pottsville home ended in tragedy when a 42-year-old woman named Lorrie Botella and her loyal dog got trapped in the flames and perished. Lorrie and her beloved rescue dog, Thor, were brought to the hospital in critical condition. But both of them succumbed to their injuries and died.

Dexter, Lorrie’s other dog, survived after making out of the fire in time. Apparently, Lorrie was diagnosed with juvenile arthritis as a child, which heavily limited her mobility and made it difficult for her to escape. Locals say that Thor was ferociously loyal to Lorrie and he refused to leave her even when he had the chance to escape the fire.

Volunteers of the Hillside SPCA revealed that Thor loved Lorrie more than anything in the world. The dog had previously lived with abusive owners which made him skittish and untrusting. He learned to embrace life again after Lorrie rescued him and loved him unconditionally.

While the cause of the fire is still under investigation, Lorrie and Thor’s deaths have left the community in deep mourning. Lorrie and Thor’s devotion toward each other has brought tears to our eyes and we hope that they are together in heaven now. Let’s spread the word and make Thor’s beautiful sacrifice known to the rest of the world!
